As virtual job fairs are likely here to stay, it’s probably a good idea to maximize the use of this platform.

While some employers may still prefer the “old” way of doing things (in-person job fairs with a chance to speak to candidates face-to-face) we have to admit, times have changed.

In-person job fairs offer seemingly good benefits such as immediate screening based upon the candidate’s initial contact with the recruiting representative, and the ability to answer individual candidate questions on the spot. However, this format also comes with some challenges such as expensive venues, low attendance due to the location of the recruitment event, no measurable results or real-time insights, etc.

As a result, employers may want to consider embracing the virtual job fair model and realizing some of the advantages it offers.

Here are a few benefits employers should consider as you plan your first or next virtual job fair:

  • Greater Efficiency: Less time for event set up, with cost-effective preparation

  • Higher Attendance Rates: Broader options for candidate outreach; removing travel and time barriers (compared to physical events) encourages higher participation

  • Hassle-Free Set-Up: Eliminate months of planning, venue technology issues, and stressful onsite coordination issues

  • Seamless information Exchange: Easily share company videos, photo galleries, etc. to promote understanding of the organization while eliminating the need for expensive marketing material and corporate giveaways

  • Improved Visitor/Candidate Experience: Live chats to initiate beneficial candidate discussion, recorded content that can be replayed at a convenient time for someone who cannot make the scheduled event.

In summary, virtual job fairs can help you to save time, become more efficient with candidate sourcing, provide a more engaging candidate experience, and even reduce the carbon footprint by eliminating the need for travel to and from events.
