Recovery is Good Business: Orientation Workshop

Improving mental health and supporting those with substance use disorders are key to a healthier workplace. About 16.2 million workers face serious mental health challenges, and 20.3 million people deal with substance use issues, with most of them working. These issues can lead to financial losses for companies due to increased healthcare expenses and greater absenteeism. By helping employees with these issues, companies can save money and have happier, more productive teams.

Join this interactive workshop to learn the steps necessary to transform your workplace into a recovery-friendly environment and empower your business with strategies for cost savings and foster a supportive, inclusive culture!

Your participation in this workshop satisfies the requirements for you to become a Bronze Level Recovery Friendly Workplace partner with the State of Maryland, and a Recovery Is Good Business partner. FCWS offers additional workshops to provide you the opportunity to achieve progressive Recovery Friendly Workplace certifications, and you will learn more at orientation.

And consider joining us for Stigma & Behavioral Health: Recovery at Work, held right after the orientation concludes. This workshop will count towards your progressive Recovery Friendly Workplace certifications and re-certifications for Recovery Is Good Business partners!

To learn more about the workshop, please contact Diana Campbell at dcampbell@frederickcountymd.gov.

Recovery is Good Business – Stigma & Behavioral Health: Recovery at Work

What is stigma? How does it play out at work? What are the benefits of making workplaces more recovery-friendly? This workshop explores these questions and provides helpful resources.

Support is needed for mental health and substance use issues, especially at work. Stigma is the biggest barrier to recovery from behavioral health challenges, and a key contributor to harmful workplace policies and behaviors that result in loss of money, productivity, and employee retention. Addressing stigma at work costs less in dollars and stress.

Join us to learn how to combat stigma at your workplace and leave with a toolkit of local mental health and recovery resources, and peer support options for your employees.

Participation in this workshop will count toward your Recovery Friendly Workplace certifications and recertifications for current partners, and in addition, .5 CPRS CEU hours are available from On Our Own of Maryland.

Brought to you by The Anti-Stigma Project, On Our Own of Maryland, Inc.
