Cyber Security Basics, Part of the Business Education Series

Join us for the latest session in the Business Education Series for small businesses in Frederick County: Cyber Security Basics. This free in-person seminar is designed to equip small business owners with the knowledge to safeguard their operations against digital threats. We’ll cover essential cyber security principles, strategies for reducing risks, and best practices for training your employees. Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with the speaker and ask questions throughout the session.

About the Instructor

Tom Dawson has 45+ years working in the Information Technology (IT) environment, as a computer and Electronic Technician (ET), network specialist, and both a Database (DBA) and System (Servers) Administrators (SA). The last 15 years Tom was working at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on their Electronic Medical Record (EMR) hospital systems, as their Team Leader for the 6-member Clinical Database Administrator group. Tom has also have been an instructor/Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the past 22 years, teaching IT classes at the USPS training center in Norman OK, Nortel Networks training center in Raleigh NC, Frederick Community College in Frederick MD, Montgomery College in Rockville MD, and most recently teaching Web design and Cisco classes for Frederick County Public Schools at their CTC center.
