During the last week of October, the Frederick County Office of Economic Development hosted its 22nd year of Business Appreciation Week (BAW). The team at FCWS served among many ambassadors who visited 108 businesses throughout the city and county. During these visits, the team had the chance to hear the business’s story and express appreciation for doing business in Frederick County. Ambassadors were also tasked with listening for opportunities to support the business and help them thrive.

Business Appreciation Week (BAW) is about more than just saying thank you to businesses and celebrating that “There’s No Place Like Frederick County!” It was about being a resource and making meaningful connections.

Yes, workforce and talent were certainly hot topics for many businesses. Aside from sharing our expertise in workforce solutions, the FCWS team also had opportunities to do something they are best at, make connections! Throughout the week, the team made connections between businesses to encourage beneficial partnerships between local companies. There was kombucha company who connected with distilleries and breweries, a CBD company who connected with the kombucha company, a baking company who connected with a food processing company, and a software development company connected to the local SHRM chapter. Making connections is one of the many ways that the Business Team supports the local business community. We do it as well as Oprah Winfrey gives away free stuff! It was a highlight of the week and one of the many benefits to working with the Business Team at Frederick County Workforce Services.
