The International Day of Women and Girls in Science!

February 11 marked the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Do you have a young girl or young woman in your circle of influence who may be interested in science? Here are some ways to encourage and support their interest and passion.

Five tips for businesses to celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science through various initiatives:

  • Highlight Female Scientists: Feature profiles of women scientists within your organization or industry on your company's communication channels to recognize their contributions.

  • Host Educational Events: Organize workshops, seminars, or panel discussions that focus on the achievements of women in science and address the challenges they face.

  • Create Mentorship Programs: Establish or promote mentorship opportunities that connect young women and girls with experienced professionals in STEM fields.

  • Collaborate with Educational Institutions: Partner with schools or universities to support programs that encourage girls to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

  • Promote Inclusive Policies: Review and implement workplace policies that support gender equality and create an inclusive environment for women in science roles.

By engaging in these types of activities, businesses will contribute to the global effort of promoting equal access to, and participation in, science for women and girls.
