The Parks & Recreation Department offers entry-level positions in a variety of areas. Seasonal Park Attendants ensure the park is safe, clean, and accessible by coordinating sports fields reservations, inspecting trails, pavilions and restrooms, and opening and closing the park to the public. Summer Camp Counselors assist with sports and related summer camps and leads activities for children from preschool through teens. Park Maintenance Technicians maintain the landscaping by mowing, planting, weeding, removing trash, and other grounds maintenance.
Emergency Management
Emergency Communications Specialists are our first point of contact when calling 911 and other non-emergency phone lines. You will be trained on how to use the phone lines, dispatch apparatus, and computer software to quickly and effectively communicate the emergency with EMS, Fire-Rescue, Law Enforcement and affiliated agencies.
Water & Sewer Utilities
The Water & Sewer Utilities division has a few entry-level positions. As a Utility Systems Maintenance Technician Trainee, you will learn how to safely install and maintain public water and sewer pipelines, cables, and traffic lights. Trainees will gain experience cleaning, repairing, and operating tools such as jack hammers, pressure cleaners, blasting equipment, and a variety of hand tools. You'll learn how to flag traffic, make inspections, and maintain public utility lines. As a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Trainee you will learn how to operate large equipment such as a front-end loader, generators, engines, blowers, pumps, and more. You'll monitor control panels and learn to adjust valves and gates to keep the large plant operating smoothly.
