Staff Profile: Meet Sheron Joergensen
Sheron Joergensen is an Administrative Specialist for Frederick County Workforce Services. We asked Sheron about her role at FCWS, what she likes about workforce development, and how she enjoys spending her time off.
What is your role at FCWS?
I am an Administrative Specialist, and am responsible for managing the reception desk, and providing assistance and administrative support to customers, businesses, staff, and partners of Frederick County Workforce Services/American Job Center. I handle phone calls, email inquiries, and guide jobseekers by connecting them with relevant resources and referrals to FCWS programs or community service providers.
What do you like best about working in workforce development?
I like working with diverse individuals from various backgrounds and assisting them in realizing their full potential.
If you had $30,000 to donate to a workforce development program, what would you want to do with it?
I envision creating a program aimed at assisting individuals aged 65 and older who are facing financial challenges while relying solely on Social Security payments. This program would facilitate their transition into part-time employment, allowing them to supplement their income and better support themselves during retirement.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Traveling to new places, spending time with my family, jigsaw puzzles and nurturing my houseplants.
