Industry Focus: Q&A with Frederick Health (FMH)

Q: How does Frederick Health/Frederick Memorial Hospital stay competitive for attracting top talent?

Recruitment Events. Every year in the past, Frederick Memorial Hospital has held about 2 per year. Starting in 2020, we will be holding 4 Recruitment Events per year. We have one coming up on November 8 and then our next one will be sometime in February.

Q: There is a generational shift currently taking place; what is your company doing to attract and/or address the growing millennial workforce?

Social Media. This is one thing we are trying to do a lot more of. Social Media is everywhere now, so we are working hard to get out on there more. This is where all the millennials are, as well as where they are searching for positions.

Q: What industries/positions would you say are good transition points for your open positions?

If an applicant is interested in a Nursing career, then it is good to do something else within that field to start gaining some experience around it. Some good starter positions can include Scheduler, Intake & Registration Specialist, Medical Office Assistant, Staffing Coordinator or Patient Companion. The next step after that would be to obtain a CNA Certification, followed by a RN License.

Q: What are some things you look for from job candidates that may not be asked or highlighted in the job description?

Attention to detail, communication & accessibility. There is nothing worse than calling an applicant over and over, then not hearing back from them for days!

Frederick Health/Frederick Memorial Hospital is holding a JOB FAIR on Friday, November 8. Learn more and RSVP to attend here: www.FrederickHealth.org/events.
