Kara is the Manager of Youth Programs and Talent Pipeline Development at Frederick County Workforce Services. We asked Kara about her role at FCWS, what she likes about workforce development, and how she enjoys spending her free time when she’s not at work.
What is your role at FCWS?
I am the Manager of Youth Programs and Talent Pipeline Development. I lead a dynamic team of professionals who provide career exploration, career guidance, work experience, and career related training to youth and young adults in our community.
What do you like best about working in workforce development?
Helping people get the skills and resources they need to find employment that helps them meet their goals. Our whole community benefits when we have a skilled workforce that is prepared to meet local needs.
If you had $30,000 to donate to a workforce development program, what would you want done with it?
I would want the funds to be used to help provide transportation for people who have a hard time getting to work or employment-related training.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I enjoy cooking, listening to music, traveling to new places, and spending time outside. I'm happiest sitting on the beach with a good book.
