Staff Profile: Meet Michelle Day
Michelle Day is the Director for Frederick County Workforce Services. We asked Michelle about her role at FCWS, what she likes about workforce development, and how she enjoys spending her outside of work.
Tell us about your role at FCWS?
I am the Director of Workforce Services. I lead the department and ensure quality workforce development programs and services meet the needs of our county residents and community. I recently caught onto the “Friday morning dance party” trend so you may see some occasional dance moves from me.
What do you like best about working in workforce development?
The impact that it can have on an individual level which translates into important economic impact in our community. I love when I am out and about and someone pulls me aside to share how working with the FCWS team launched them into career that is helping them or their families.
If you had $30,000 to donate to a workforce development program, what would you want to do with it?
I would love to see more resources go to supporting childcare availability for workers.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Hiking, biking, art projects, traveling, spending time with my family and friends and cat, Mila.
