Staff Profile: Meet Aaron Eleazer
Aaron is a Peer Recovery Specialist for Frederick County Workforce Services. We asked Aaron about his role at FCWS, what he likes about workforce development, and how he enjoys spending his free time.
What is your role at FCWS?
Peer Recovery Specialist. My role is simple yet effective. Be of service! The recovery population and people with mental health disorders are a population that need support. My role is to support people to the best if my ability with their wellness needs. Whether that's wellness planning, facilitation of the latest information or simply a listening ear. My position allows us to stay in the solution and take a person-centered approach in helping job seekers find their fit.
What do you like best about working in workforce development?
What I like best is seeing people's willingness to try something different, new or foreign and change their approach towards it. Also seeing people improve their circumstances by learning things to help become more marketable and have a healthier worklife.
If you had $30,000 to donate to a workforce development program, what would you want done with it?
I would like to create a program that would help people learn more about financial management, the effects of it, how it correlates with the workforce, benefits of delayed gratification and how to implement it in populations affected by barriers.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I like to play basketball, spend time with my growing kids and watching anime.
